Frequently Asked Questions

How do we book a session at Ollie & George Photography?

Once you have looked through my website and my galleries and you've decided that I'm the right photographer for you, you can just send me a message here I will then check availability and once a date has been confirmed I'll send you over a booking form and invoice for the deposit.

When is the best time to book a session?

For newborn sessions the best time is after your 20 week scan although I may have some last minute sessions available.

For cake smash sessions 4-8 weeks before the session is best as this will give me time to plan your session and purchase anything I may need for your theme/colours, however last minute bookings may be available depending on cake baker availability. If you need a session on a Saturday please book as soon as you can, Saturday sessions fill up very quickly.

How do we pay the deposit?

The invoice has a direct link to pay the deposit through PayPal (you do not need a PayPal account) bank transfer details are also on the form or you can pay by cash.

Can we choose colours and props?

Yes! All sessions are planned in consultation with you and we'll go through colours/props etc

Where will the session take place?

Studio sessions are held in my studio on Longsight Road, close to BAE Samlesbury, Lancashire. J30 of the M6 is 5 minutes away, Blackburn and Preston are both close by.

The studio has been set up especially for newborns/babies, there is a changing table, a selection of toys for siblings and child friendly snacks/drinks available.

Outdoor sessions are held in a mutually agreed location.

What if my baby doesn't settle?

Please don't worry, some babies take longer than others and some babies just don't want to go to sleep at all, in this case I'll change the flow of the session and will wrap them which often helps them to settle, we can also do some awake shots, they will eventually fall asleep.

What if my baby wee's/poohs?

Again, please don't worry, if they don't it's very unusual! I can often spot when it's about to happen but I just make sure baby is clean and switch the blankets around then we're back to the session.

What training have you done?

I studied photography at college for two years and obtained the City and Guilds Levels 2 and 3, I was awarded double distinctions for both courses. I have since specialised in babies and newborns in particular so have under taken extensive training in posing and handling babies safely. I've trained with The Newborn Workshops, Cass Davies and Rachel Vanoven (from the USA) amongst others. I am continually learning new techniques/poses and invest a great deal in training every year so that I can ensure my baby safety skills stay fresh as well as to progress techniques/poses and so my clients can have the best images of their beautiful children.

I also have completed Paediatric First Aid training and I'm a fully insured/registered business.

Do I need to bring anything on the day of my session?

For newborns you can bring any special toys/blankets etc you'd like photographed with your baby, extra milk if formula feeding and snacks for yourselves as it can take a little while and you may get hungry. Feel free to bring magazines etc I don't currently have a wifi connection but hope to have it by the end of the year. You may want to bring a change of clothes.

For cake smashes bring a drink for your little one, they often get thirsty part way through the smash, bath toys for the splash at the end. For parents I always suggest wearing some old clothes that you don't mind getting cake on, babies always seem to need a cuddle right at the messiest part of the session. I will have towels etc on hand to protect you though.

What happens after our session?

f you've selected to have a Facebook peek within 48 hrs of your session I will edit this and upload it for you, you can tag/share this image if you wish. It will then take me around 10 days (slightly longer at peak times) to edit your images, I will then upload them to an online private password protected gallery which will be live for 14 days. At this point you select the images that you would like and the package that best suits your needs, If I don't have a package that meets your needs just let me know and I can create a custom package for you. Once payment is received I will send you the links to your new gallery where you can download the full size high resolution images immediately. If you have selected a package with a usb I will prepare this for you. If you have prints to order I will let you know how you can do this. Prints will be ready to collect 14 days after your order date, usbs will be ready once your final gallery is completed, you may wish to collect your usb before your prints or you can collect everything at once.

Do you use our images online?

I will ask for permission to use a select few images from your session on social media/website/blog however, I totally respect your wishes if you do not want images of your little one online.

Are images edited?

Yes, I take time to ensure your images are presented beautifully, if your baby has very flaky skin then this can be minimised if you wish, similarly with any little pimples etc.

I have a voucher or a special offer flyer what do I do with these?

Please bring them along to your session and they will be discounted from your package fee.

What happens if I lose my images?

Once you receive your images I cannot stress enough how important it is to back them up. Please back them up on to a computer and cloud storage device ie google drive/amazon cloud/dropbox etc, there are lots of free cloud storage plans available, I will keep your gallery for 6 months after your session however it's not guaranteed, servers go down and things happen beyond my control so the more places you can back up your images the better.
